Another confrontation takes place after Anakin is freed and Darth Maul takes off on his speeder. It's a scene where Qui-Gon encounters one of Darth Maul's Sith Probe Droids which explains why (in the film) Qui-Gon and Anakin are running quickly towards the Queen's ship.

Here's the excerpt from the Illustrated Screenplay:

ANAKIN runs off to join QUI-GON, who has already started down the street. As they walk along together, QUI-GON notices something out of the corner of his eye.
Suddenly, without breaking his stride, he ignites his laser sword, swings around, and lunges forward and cuts a lurking PROBE DROID in half. QUI-GON inspects the sparking and fizzing DROID.

What is it?

Probe Droid. Very unusual...
not like anything I've seen before.
Come on.

QUI-GON and ANAKIN start running.

This first picture is taken from the book The Making of Episode I by Laurent Bouzereau and Jody Duncan. On page 92, in the top left corner, you will find this picture and if you look closely, you can see that Qui-Gon has a lightsaber in his hand. George is pointing down to where the mangled droid lies and you can just about make out the shape of it if you look real close. (Thanks to Mike "The Eye" Rex for pointing the picture out to me.)

The next picture is from an Episode I coloring book. It shows Qui-Gon in action about to slice down the Probe as Anakin watches carefully.

Fortunately, this scene made its way onto the DVD for EPISODE I! It's paired up with another scene where Anakin says farewell to Jira.
