Chief Bast (the guy with those boss sideburns known simply as "Commander Number One" in the credits) allegedly shows his face in a few deleted scenes. We're going to concentrate on one in particular where he has a conversation with Darth Vader on the Death Star.

Chief Bast's deleted dialogue takes place during a scene with Vader that takes place right after the Jabba/Han confrontation according to the Star Wars novel and comic adaptation. The scene basically consists of Vader and Chief Bast walking down a hallway on the Death Star. It was included in the novel and comic but not the film itself. The dialogue in the novel is sort of redundant which may explain the reason it was cut. Vader and Bast just talk about the importance of finding the fugitive droids and breaking Leia's will. The important thing to notice here, minor as it is, is the politics involved. Bast calls Tarkin's plan to break Leia "foolish" and seems to be in Vader's pocket or at least agrees with him more than with Tarkin.

Almost all of this scene can be seen in the Star Wars Holiday Special (a TV special from 1978 that is barely watchable and can only be found on bootleg copies) but the dialogue was overdubbed to suit the plot of the special - so none of the original lines are there.

I've also included two video clips on this page. One is directly from the Star Wars Holiday Special and is courtesy Skot Kirkwood who maintains the Holiday Special fan site. Keep in mind that when you watch it, the real dialogue has been replaced as stated above. The other clip entitled "Bast is Best" is a cool fan-made recreation of this scene which is also from the Holiday Special however Sluggo replaced some of the dialogue to match the original script.

BA53. INT. DEATH STAR - CORRIDOR
Darth Vader and a stormtrooper commander stride down one of the long Death Star corridors, followed by several aides.

COMMANDER
We've started to search the spaceport
at Mos Eisley. It's just a matter of time before
we've found the droids.

VADER
Send in more men if you have to.
It's her hope of that data being used against
us that is the pillar of her
resistance to the mind probe.

COMMANDER
Until then we must waste our time with
Governor Tarkin's foolish plan to break her.
