We all know Luke sold his landspeeder after striking the deal with Han in the cantina, but we never really saw the deal go down, did we? We only caught the tail end of the sale where a frustrated Luke gives in and complains about the XP-38's being more in demand. There's always been a small debate about whether or not this scene was actually shot and whether or not there was any dialogue. There are some images that prove it was photographed and filmed and while there may have been some early dialogue written, this was removed from the script. In some notes from a production meeting you can see below, it was decided in January of 1976 that the "Speeder Dealer" would only be seen in a long shot from across the street. The first picture you see below is from the old Marvel Comic adaptation. The next picture is the live action representation of that scene. The third picture gives us a good look at the ugly alien named Wioslea who buys Luke's speeder. According to the book Star Wars Chronicles, she runs a used speeder lot called "Spaceport Speeders." The fourth shot takes place shortly after the deal went down while on the way to Docking Bay 94. The last image below is a scan from the meeting notes mentioned previously. IMAGES:
