Deleted scenes. Alternate footage. A look behind the scenes at what didn't make it to the final cut of the Star Wars trilogy.

DELETED MAGIC is a full-length not-for-profit documentary created in 2005 and 2009 by Garrett Gilchrist, of Orange Cow Productions (orangecow.org).

Garrett went back to the original drafts of the Star Wars films, to piece together deleted scenes, outtakes, documentary footage and alternate edits of the existing scenes, and give an idea of how the Star Wars films we know and love came to be.

The idea is to "deconstruct" the Star Wars films and show how they were made to work in the editing. It's not intended to be a seamless reedit of the films - you'll see clapperboards, original production sound and other "behind the scenes" footage, as if the film were still unfinished. When possible, deleted scenes are included in this edit as if they were part of the final film, and some deleted scenes have been reconstructed from scratch, if possible.

This is a fan's analysis of the films, and a way to have a little fun with the Star Wars that could have been.
